Child's Heart's Association

A congenital heart defect may occur in approximately 8 per 1000 births. In spite of enhancing its surgical treatment and better diagnosis. The facts remain the same for a parent to hear about their child’s illness is just as difficult.  Hence the whole family needs support, the parents and the children. Surgery waiting, great fear, uncertainty and hope for rehabilitation - all of these steps goes a majority of parents of children with congenital heart disease. Doctors saved the child's life, providing a new quality of life. The sick heart disease is sometimes accompanied by other health problems, disrupted the normal development, so it is necessary to aid the child to live a full life. Thought the experience of such distress, constantly worrying about child’s future unites families.


In 2008 autumn Dive Jonauskienė, whilst bring up her daughter with a complex congenital heart defect,  gets invitation to Berlin where  European Congenital Heart disease association (ECHDO) holds their meeting for patients and parents of children with heart defects. There, after hearing the representatives from twenty European countries, organizations, presentations about their ongoing work, she realized the importance and the need to establish an organization in Lithuania.  Lithuania organizations, including Welcome Mat, no. Therefore, together with other parents took the initiative. Hence two years ago in Lithuania Child Heart Association was established.

 

Child's Heart Association as well as the international community for several years, is the official ECHDO (European Congenital Heart Disease Organization) member, which is concentrated in the congenital heart defects in patients with small parents and teens growing up with heart defects, physicians, pharmacists and scientists.

Child's Heart Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the compassionate grounds in support of Santariškės II cardiac surgical units, to help children born with congenital heart defects after cardiac transplantation.  The association has ongoing projects to support children and parents financial and morally.
